CARS - it keeps getting better

Hills site
Apart from the show itself, one of the big draws for dismantlers is visiting Hill's 11 acre, state of the art, auto recyling site. Like Hills, CARS is all about auto recycling at its best and helping you to build your business.
We thought you were due an update on how the CARS show is going as things are moving fast. The complete auto recycling and secondary metals show is filling up fast with the bulk of the show space now sold. The big news since we last covered the show is that JCB have come on board as main sponsors. This is great news for the organisers as JCB will also handle all movements of elv’s and materials during the show so you don’t only get to see how good the exhibitors’ equipment is, you also get to see the versatility of the JCB range when it comes to vehicle movements. And let’s face it, the effectiveness of getting vehicles in, out and moved about can greatly effect your profit.

When it comes to vendors, the CARS website will shortly include an updated map so you can see just who’s going to be there. It’s fair to say, the way it’s looking, pretty much anyone who deals with our industry is going to be there. Whether that’s Roger Dyson at the recovery and transport end, Manitou with their range of materials handlers, JMC with process equipment to add value, Overton with their Auto dismantling System, OHRA’ storage solutions, all the way up to Bonfiglioi’s car balers. And these are just the tip of the iceberg - this show is lining up to be an amazing event for auto recyclers and scrap merchants.

The training programme is looking good as well. The organisers are bringing in a couple of trainers from the States. One company, ACDC specialise in hybrids and electric vehicles and if you want to maximise your return from hybrids, you really won’t want to miss this - everyone we have spoken to who have seen this company in the States raves about them. There’s plenty more as well. Airbags, air-con, forklifts, metals analysers - the list goes on. This is your opportunity to bring key members of your business to pick up information that will help move your business forward - and have a great time!

For me, one of the greatest attractions of CARS is not just the show but where it’s held. If you haven’t visited Hills Salvage and Recycling Ltd’s site in Skelmersdale, then you are in for a treat. This is 11 acres of auto recycling heaven. Just walking around this state of the art setup will send you away with ideas just bubbling out of you. The site is extensive, they make use of the latest technology, everything is designed and planned to maximise throughput and profit. Whether it’s the way they handle their stock, the added value they bring to their business through on site processing or their online presence for auctioning salvage, this is a site visit not to be missed.

This hopefully has given you a taste of what’s being put together for our industry. If auto recycling is your business and you only go one place this year, then make sure you go to CARS.
