Auto Recycling UK comes of age

More space at CARS
CARS host Ian Hill (left) with his daughter Trudy and the CARS founders, Nigel Dove of Vortex Depollution and atfPro editor, Chris Floate (right).
ATFs and vehicle dismantlers have been in the shadows for far too long and CARS was a breath of fresh air for what is now a highly motivated, professional sector of British industry.

CARS wasn’t just good, it was way, way better than that. In this issue of atfPro we bring you a flavour of what the show was about - 800 individuals on Hills impressive site at Skelmersdale attending seminars, forums, looking at all the latest kit and checking out the services on offer - CARS was truly buzzing. I have to take my hat off to Ian Hill and his staff who worked tirelessly to make sure we all had a great few days.

More space at CARS
All sectors of our industry were on show such as Premier Components crew shown here, and visitors took full advantage of the opportunity.
If you missed the show, then I am sure it will all happen again in probably two years time but at the time of writing no final plans had yet been made on how best to move CARS forward. The level of positive response from the industry has been overwhelming so it is without doubt that something has to happen! We have reproduced a few photos below and if you want to see more, there is around 250 shots of the event here.

Seminars at CARS
Seminars covered many aspects of the business and over the coming months, we shall be publishing articles on the various topics for those who couldn’t make it.

Outdoor display area at CARS
The show itself was amazing with trade stands covering all the services we require and demonstrations of the equipment we use.

Charity auction at CARS
CARS was also about having fun and the Friday night pig roast and band was a great time to chat and also to raise some money for charity. Hills and the organisers had put together a fabulous range of lots for the charity auction and Autodrain’s sales manager, Nick Bramley did an amazing job of shifting them, raising over £10,000 on the night. Another £2,000 was raised in tips at the free bar and Ian and Lucy Hill’s 9 year old daughter, Trudy raised a further £410 by her own efforts - well done Trudy. All the money raised will be split between two charities, the Rett Syndrome Research Trust and the Legacy – rainbow House. Even the food didn't go to waste. Lucy arranged for the left over food to be taken to a local women's refuge where 15 families also benefitted.

atfPro has been very much involved with the CARS show and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support.
