Manitou celebrates 40 years in the UK

Manitou recently celebrated 40 years in the UK and plan to develop further into more specialised areas such as ATFs.
Moving vehicles and materials is key to the operation of all ATFs and vehicle dismantlers and one of the key players in the market, Manitou held a celebration dinner for their dealers recently to commemorate 40 years in the UK.

Many would have seen them at the CARS show in June where they had their key products on display. The company has been very successful in the agricultural and construction sectors and are currently building a large dealer base in the UK for the industrial market.

Speaking to their President, Jean-Christophe Giroux, it soon becomes obvious that Manitou are not sitting on their laurels, with plans to make inroads into specialist markets such as ours. The key point from Manitou’s perspective is understanding the markets they sell into as each has it’s own distinct requirements. As an example, the agricultural sector generally buys equipment whereas the industrial sector is mainly contract hire.

The company also appreciates that their machines are simply tool holders and it is the attachments that make the tool useful. Manitou have a separate department for attachment development with much of the feed back coming from operators. “Our machines and their attachments must make our users’ operations easier and more efficient, otherwise there is no gain for them,” explained Jean- Christophe Giroux.

We get the feeling that the auto recycling sector is going to hear a lot more about Manitou over the next few years - watch this space! In the meantime, for further information you can visit Manitou’s website.
