Conference to look at battery recycling

Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik hosts the 18th International Congress for Battery Recycling in September.
With the current growth in hybrids and full electric vehicles, readers may be interested in attending the 18th International Congress for Battery Recycling which will be held in Dubrovnik, Croatia from September 11 – 13, 2013


The congress in battery recycling will focus on:
  • Update of battery legislation worldwide
  • Safety issues & transportation regulations
  • Recycling efficiency
  • The great future of LEV, EHV, PEHV and EV battery systems
  • The success of Li-Ion batteries technologies
  • Country reports on collection and recycling
  • Best available technologies for battery recycling
The organisers tell us that the congress is a perfect platform to exchange the latest information, to meet your business partners and to get easy access to new potential clients.

The congress includes an exhibition and poster presentation area where visitors can meed vendors to the industry. The organisers also host a cocktail reception and networking dinner to help you get in touch with potential business partners, friends and competitors.

A training course is also available at the congress covering the transport of dangerous goods, targeting lithium batteries” plus a sightseeing city tour to the old town of Dubrovnik.
13th International Automobile Recycling Congress
Before then, ICM are holding their 13th International Automobile Recycling Congress from March 13 – 15, 2013 in Brussels, Belgium.

Although the schedule is a little tight to attend now, the congress will focus on:

  • How do car manufacturers and the industry close the recycling loop?

As with the battery congress, there is a large exhibition area and cocktail receptions and dinner. The congress is also offering plant tours to leading companies in the vicinity of Brussels. We shall plan to bring a report in our next issue of atfPro.

Code of practice flawed, the opinion of the BVSF
One has to be concerned when the insurer’s new Code of Practice (CoP) that received its “soft launch” a week or so back isn’t supported by either the Motor Vehicle Dismantlers’ Association or the British Vehicle Salvage Federation, two of the main owners of the pre-existing code.
