Fab demonstrates its commitment to professionalism at CARS

Jason Cross - Fab Recycling
Jason Cross, FAB's MD knows that Professionalism is key to developing the green parts sector.
We’ve mentioned FAB Bundle on atfPro over the last few months but there is a lot more to FAB than auctioning pre-dismantled parts bundles. The CARS2014 headline sponsor tells us it’s all about raising the perception and attitudes both inside and outside the industry.

FAB Recycling takes professionalism very seriously and recognises that if you can’t demonstrate to a potential customer that your business operations are sound and the parts you supply will be to a recognised standard, then you will never develop a sizeable green parts business and this industry will have missed a golden opportunity.

And FAB know what they’re talking about. They specialise in supplying trade and fleet customers (including the vast majority of police forces in the country) with green parts to specified standards. FAB hopes its presence at CARS will prompt a conversation about professionalism inside the dismantling industry, and help redefine what this means for modern dismantling companies.

At CARS 2014, FAB Recycling will naturally be demonstrating FAB Bundle, the first site selling personally checked, traceable, pre-owned bulk vehicle parts to the trade. If you haven’t seen the previous article, take a look here. They will explain how the ‘FAB ‘kitemark’ on the processing of parts is helping shift perceptions inside and outside the industry, leading it into the 21st Century.

FAB representatives will be at hand to discuss opportunities available to the dismantling industry’s key decision makers via the site. This is an opportunity for those who recognise the potential in working to set standards to learn how they can benefit their businesses in the future.

At the show, alongside FAB will be DH Systems, the software specialist which built the FAB Bundle website. The company will be demonstrating the technological smarts it employed to help create FAB Bundle, along with its already established products such as Frontier Salvage.

The idea of FAB Bundle is simple - you buy (via an auction) just the parts rather than the whole vehicle. This has many benefits for dismantlers. Maybe you want to expand your sales but haven’t the space for more vehicles, FAB Bundle lets you simply buy the parts to put on the shelf. Maybe you don’t want the hassle of the environment agency and all the issues with licensing. Again, FAB Bundle lets you just buy the parts. That’s just a couple of reasons why we at atfPro think it’s a great idea, after all I can’t think of any other retail market that doesn’t have a wholesale market to back it up. Naturally visitors will be able to sign up to FAB Bundle during their visit to FAB’s stand.

FAB Recycling’s Managing Director, Jason Cross has worked hard over the past 12 months helping to improve the perceptions of our industry. He has talked to bodyshops, insurers and fleet managers; he even presented at last year’s Conservative Party Conference.

Apart from FAB Bundle, they have launched “Mygreenfleet” (www.mygreenfleet.co.uk) operation specifically to help fleet operators both save money and improve their environmental track record. Mygreenfleet has been short listed for a number of awards, including a SW sustainable business award (SW Business Insider) and most recently for Best New Product/Service in the Fleet News Awards.

Jason recognises that communication is key to changing perceptions inside dismantling, and FAB Recycling have been working hard to spread the message about quality traceable pre-owned vehicle parts. Over the last 12 months FAB have featured in The Assessor magazine, taken part in roundtable meetings and shown a number of industry decision makers around its 2.5 acre site in Cinderford, Gloucestershire.

According to Jason, interest in pre-owned vehicle parts being sold via dismantling has strengthened noticeably over the past 12 months. He says, “We now have meetings with the kinds of companies we would never have come into contact with a year ago. The recent launch of FAB Bundle has really propelled us into a different league and we hope that as we become more recognised, our standards on pre-owned vehicle parts dismantling will be adopted nationwide, if not wider.”

CARS 2014 will be great for visitors for many reasons but to talk first hand about how you can build a better business with those who are actually doing it is an opportunity not to be missed - see you at CARS!
