Information is power!

CARS Conference Programme
Conferences give you a great opportunity to see where new potential may exist. And don't forget, it's also a great time to be able to ask questions!
So someone once said, and it’s not hard to understand the thinking behind it. The same thinking goes into planning conference programmes and CARS2016 is no exception. The show has many aspects but the conference sessions are where you can really glean information. Here we take a quick look at what’s on offer.

new production vehicles
One key theme is new production vehicles. After all, these are our future and the current drive towards closing the loop means all those involved, from manufacturing materials to designing the vehicles to processing the ELVs are connected, and must work together to create sustainable systems. We play an integral part in this circle and it’s essential we play our part in full if we are to maintain a successful automotive recycling sector.
Increasing profits
Increasing profits is something we’re all interested in and it’s good to Steve Tapner, who writes regularly for atfProfessional giving us the benefit of his experience. We know everyone groans when we mention software and technology, but Steve will actually show you how to use it to make money. And don’t forget, he doesn’t work for the software industry, he’s an independent consultant.
Making use of social media
Another way to build your business is by making use of social media. Andrew Jenks, Senior PR Account Manager at Ceris Burns International will be showing us how to make the best of this media. For those who don’t know, Ceris Burns International is a specialist communications agency for amongst other things, recycling and waste management so they should know what they’re talking about!
Selling in today’s markets
Paul Fox, Chairman of EGARA and HenkJan Nix, Egara’s Secretary will be looking at the issues surrounding selling in today’s markets, both at home and export. Who knows how the EU referendum will go in June but this could have a serious impact on our closest markets on the continent.
The second hand parts market
The second hand parts market and where it’s heading will be high on the agenda and I am sure concerns the vast majority of us. ABP Club’s, David Cresswell will chair this session and the panel will include the insurers and those developing green parts markets. This is one area where we should as an industry look for growth in the future.
Material technology
And there’s plenty more; material technology and the 95% market is important to us all now. This goes right back to where we started from, forever increasing the amount of each ELV that can be returned into the system. Technology is developing and improving all the time to continually reduce the waste from our industry.
The new Salvage Code of Practice
The new Salvage Code of Practice, its issues, possibilities, capabilities and consequences is a subject that effects not only those dealing directly with the insurers, but all those who buy or repair salvage as well. BVSF’s Roger West will deliver an update on the code - not one to be missed.

Can you afford to miss out? All these topics directly affect your business and your capability to make profits. As we said at the beginning, information is power so make sure you can make the best use of it.
