Instant ELV quote launched at CARS

instant quote system
An instant quote is always appealing - MVDA have made it very easy to offer this service on your website.

Do you offer an instant quote for vehicles? In this day and age where we want everything instantly, it can make the difference between cars coming to your yard or not, and what’s more, if you’re an MVDA member there’s no charge.

That’s right, this is a free service to MVDA members. And if you’re not, it only costs around a tenner a week to be a member. The service has just been launched after being trialled at a number of yards over the last year, during its development.

The sales system is designed to be very easy and simple. From the sellers point of view, if you visit MVDAmotors, you will see that all they do is input their postcode and then click 3 or 4 drop down menus to select the vehicle details. Then hit the button and the quote comes back within 10 seconds.
What do I have to do?
As we mentioned, this service is only available to MVDA members but it is free. Once signed up, the admin panel allows you to select the various criteria you want. For example, you may only want to buy Vauxhalls, select a particular region, amend prices for particular models or you may wish to be able to quote higher prices for better cars. The range of options is extensive, allowing you to tailor to package to your business.

All users are linked to the visit MVDAmotors. Anyone operating the sales system will quote automatically when a seller completes the form, provided the enquiry meets their criteria. If your quote is accepted, you will then automatically be notified. The seller will be given individual prices for delivered and collected.
How do I run it on my own website?
This is again straight forward, although there is a small admin charge for set-up. The MVDA supply the code for you (or your web designer) to paste into one of your web pages. As an example, here is the Albert Looms page they have set up. Another operator using the system is scrapmyoldcar.com which uses a page designed around their name. All work the same and all link to the MVDAmotors website.

The key behind this is simplicity. All the hard work is taken out of it; you set your price per tonne and the prices are automatically worked out for you. Simon Charlton of Pick-A-Part who is involved with ScrapMyOldCar explained, “Running the system is very simple, you are emailed when a quote has been accepted but as we have more than one buyer, we use the MVDA interface which lets us mark when a seller has been contacted and collection arranged. This feature is very effective to prevent cars being missed because you think someone else has handled it”.
Is it worth it?
Auto recyclers already offering instant quotes are getting good business through this type of service. Some have paid a great deal to develop their own systems to achieve this and then have to maintain those systems. Although this service is free to members, don’t be fooled that there is no cost. You have to get traffic to your website if you want people to use the instant quote, and if you are not well known, that means advertising and using media such as the internet, local papers and radio. If you are building your business then you are probably already doing this so this makes an added feature for no extra cost - and we all want to get info instantly!

Albert Looms in Derby have been using the system for just under 12 months and Ray Kirk tells us it’s fantastic. They have a ‘sell your car link’ on their website which takes you straight to the quote page. Ray told atfPro, “We handle ELVs and we don’t pay top prices, but having this facility still brings us in 15+ cars a week. We used google adwords for a while but our site always comes up near the top on searches in Derbyshire so we don’t even do that anymore. I would also point out that the system is very easy to use and has been very stable in its operation”.

This looks like a no brainer if you don’t currently offer instant quotes, particularly if you’re an MVDA member, as it’s so easy to integrate into your website. And if you’re not a member, well it has got to be worth the tenner a week, particularly when you look at all the other benefits MVDA offers you. Visit the MVDA website here for more information.
