UK Recyclers clean up at ARA Awards

ARA Awards
Two Brits, Allen Prebble and Jason Cross scoop top awards at this year's ARA Convention.

We’ve had a lot of American news lately; well here’s some that’s a bit more interesting! Jason Cross of FAB Recycling and Allen Prebble of Silverlake were recipients of prestigious awards at the Automotive Recyclers Association Awards Dinner recently in Baltimore, USA.

Recognising Jason Cross as ARA Member of the Year, outgoing ARA president, Mike Swift said “The 2016 member of the year award goes to an individual whose innovation, creativity and hospitality have benefited not only automotive recyclers in the United Kingdom and Europe, but here in the United States as well.

Jason Cross of FAB Recycling is always willing to open his facility doors and share his knowledge with others. Not afraid to try new things, FAB Recycling makes over 14,300 individual shipments of recycled parts worldwide every year and is the only UK vehicle dismantler to be both ISO 14001 registered and certified carbon neutral; at the leading edge of diversifying his business in ways that nobody else has thought of yet.”

Mike Swift then went on to make an award that is very special to him - the President's Award is an opportunity for him to single out a particular individual who has shown superior service and dedication to the association and the industry.

Mike went on, “this winner is an individual who has led and expanded his family’s business significantly in recent years, offering a wide range of services and establishing a number of partnerships and a true presence in their local community. Allen Prebble of Silverlake Automotive Recycling in Hampshire, United Kingdom, has been a long time supporter of the ARA and a regular attendee at our annual convention for over 25 years. Allen regularly brings several of his employees with him to conventions - not a small feat coming over the Atlantic - and his dedication to making our industry better is second to none.

I have had the pleasure of visiting Silverlake and was amazed at the organisation and marketing initiatives of this facility. They are truly a one-stop shop.”

Congratulations to both Jason and Allen for their awards. There is nothing like recognition by your peers and these awards really demonstrate what a global family we are all part of. So next year, why not sign up to the ARA road trip and take a look for yourself at what’s happening in the USA. It doesn’t take much to realise that the attitudes of Allen and Jason, and their willingness to both share with and learn from others has put them in the position they are in today.
